Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is seeking experienced Care Home Chefs to work across West Yorkshire and surrounding areas. Opportunities range from a few shifts per week to full-time temporary roles, with ongoing assignments to fit availability.

You will prepare fresh, nutritious meals, cater to dietary needs, and ensure food safety standards are met across diverse care home kitchens. Immediate starts available and weekly pay offered.

Qualifications

• DBS enhanced clearance is required.
• Experience as Chef de Partie/Sous/Head Chef or equivalent in catering.
• Experience in high-volume catering and care environments.
• Understanding nutrition for older adults and dietary needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan meals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
• Cater for dietary needs including allergies, diabetic, vegetarian/vegan, textures.
• Ensure meals are well presented and meet residents' preferences.
• Monitor food quality, portions and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen.
• Complete daily food safety checks and temperature records.
• Follow HACCP and food hygiene regulations.
• Store foods, ingredients and cleaning products safely.
• Follow Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding policies.
• Adapt to different kitchen teams and environments.

About the Role

We have ongoing opportunities for experienced Care Home Chefs to work within care home settings across West Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking for a few shifts each week or full-time/temporary work, we have regular assignments to suit your availability.

This is a rewarding opportunity for chefs who enjoy preparing fresh, nutritious meals and understand the important role food plays in residents' wellbeing and daily experience. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality meals while ensuring all dietary requirements, food safety procedures and quality standards are met.

Working across a variety of care homes, you'll need to adapt quickly to different kitchen environments while maintaining excellent standards of food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in line with service requirements.
• Cater for a range of dietary needs, including allergies, diabetic diets, vegetarian, vegan and texture-modified meals.
• Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences wherever possible.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Complete daily food safety checks, including temperature monitoring and kitchen records.
• Follow HACCP procedures and ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely and correctly.
• Follow all company policies relating to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding.
• Adapt confidently to different kitchen teams and working environments.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• Enhanced DBS

• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Head Chef, Chef or Cook.
• Experience working in care homes, healthcare, education, hospitality or other high-volume catering environments.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
• Experience preparing meals for larger groups.
• An understanding of the nutritional requirements of older people.
• Experience catering for specialist dietary requirements and allergies.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
• A flexible and reliable approach to temporary and agency work.
