Job summary

KPI-Recruiting-Ltd is seeking experienced Care Home Chefs for ongoing roles across Huntingdon and surrounding areas. Whether you want a few shifts weekly or full-time temporary assignments, there are regular engagements to fit your availability.

Responsibilities include cooking nutritious meals for residents, meeting dietary needs, and maintaining safety and hygiene in a fast-paced care-hospitality setting. Immediate starts available and weekly pay offered.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS is required for the role.
• Experience as Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Head Chef or Cook.
• Experience in care homes or high-volume catering environments.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Understanding nutrition needs of older people and dietary adaptations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks per service requirements.
• Cater for allergies, diabetic diets, vegetarian, vegan and texture-modified meals.
• Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment and hygiene practices.
• Perform daily food safety checks and temperature monitoring.
• Follow HACCP procedures and food hygiene regulations.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely.
• Adhere to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding policies.
• Adapt to different kitchen teams and environments.

About the Role

We have ongoing opportunities for experienced Care Home Chefs to work within care home settings across Huntingdon and the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking for a few shifts each week or full-time/temporary work, we have regular assignments to suit your availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in line with service requirements.
• Cater for a range of dietary needs, including allergies, diabetic diets, vegetarian, vegan and texture-modified meals.
• Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences wherever possible.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Complete daily food safety checks, including temperature monitoring and kitchen records.
• Follow HACCP procedures and ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely and correctly.
• Follow all company policies relating to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding.
• Adapt confidently to different kitchen teams and working environments.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• Enhanced DBS

• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Head Chef, Chef or Cook.
• Experience working in care homes, healthcare, education, hospitality or other high-volume catering environments.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
• Experience preparing meals for larger groups.
• An understanding of the nutritional requirements of older people.
• Experience catering for specialist dietary requirements and allergies.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
• A flexible and reliable approach to temporary and agency work.
