Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is seeking experienced care home chefs to work across Ellesmere Port and surrounding areas. Choose from a few shifts per week or full-time temporary work with regular assignments and weekly pay.

This role focuses on preparing fresh, nutritious meals, meeting dietary requirements and maintaining high standards of food safety in care home settings. Immediate starts available with competitive hourly rates.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS required.
• Experience as Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Head Chef, Chef or Cook in care settings.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
• Flexible and reliable for temporary/agency work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
• Cater for a range of dietary needs including allergies, diabetes, vegetarian, vegan and texture-modified meals.
• Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Complete daily food safety checks, including temperature monitoring and kitchen records.
• Follow HACCP procedures and comply with food hygiene regulations.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely.
• Follow all company policies related to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding.
• Adapt confidently to different kitchen teams and working environments.

About the Role

We have ongoing opportunities for experienced Care Home Chefs to work within care home settings across Ellesmere Port and the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking for a few shifts each week or full-time/temporary work, we have regular assignments to suit your availability.

This is a rewarding opportunity for chefs who enjoy preparing fresh, nutritious meals and understand the important role food plays in residents' wellbeing and daily experience. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality meals while ensuring all dietary requirements, food safety procedures and quality standards are met.

Working across a variety of care homes, you'll need to adapt quickly to different kitchen environments while maintaining excellent standards of food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

• Enhanced DBS

• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Head Chef, Chef or Cook.
• Experience working in care homes, healthcare, education, hospitality or other high-volume catering environments.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
• Experience preparing meals for larger groups.
• An understanding of the nutritional requirements of older people.
• Experience catering for specialist dietary requirements and allergies.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
• A flexible and reliable approach to temporary and agency work.
