Job summary

KPI RECRUITING LTD is seeking an experienced Care Home Chef to work across Walsall and surrounding areas. We offer flexible shifts, including part-time and temporary assignments, to fit your availability.

You will prepare fresh, nutritious meals for residents, follow food safety standards, and cater for dietary requirements in fast-paced care home settings. If you enjoy making a positive difference through great food, we’d love to hear from you.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in care homes or high-volume catering.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
• Experience preparing meals for larger groups.
• Understanding nutritional needs of older people.
• Experience catering for special dietary requirements and allergies.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and stay calm under pressure.
• Flexible and reliable for temporary/agency work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
• Cater for dietary needs including allergies, diabetic, vegetarian, vegan.
• Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences.
• Monitor food quality, portions and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.
• Complete daily food safety checks and kitchen records.
• Follow HACCP and food hygiene regulations.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely.
• Follow Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding policies.
• Adapt to different kitchen teams and environments.

Job description

We have ongoing opportunities for anexperienced Care Home Chef to work within care home settings across Walsall and the surrounding areas. Whether you're looking for a few shifts each week or full-time/temporary work, we have regular assignments to suit your availability.

This is a rewarding opportunity for chefs who enjoy preparing fresh, nutritious meals and understand the important role food plays in residents' wellbeing and daily experience. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality meals while ensuring all dietary requirements, food safety procedures and quality standards are met.

Working across a variety of care homes, you'll need to adapt quickly to different kitchen environments while maintaining excellent standards of food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities as a Care Home Chef:

• Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
• Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in line with service requirements.
• Cater for a range of dietary needs, including allergies, diabetic diets, vegetarian, vegan and texture-modified meals.
• Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences wherever possible.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
• Complete daily food safety checks, including temperature monitoring and kitchen records.
• Follow HACCP procedures and ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations.
• Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely and correctly.
• Follow all company policies relating to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding.
• Adapt confidently to different kitchen teams and working environments.

Skills & Experience required for a Care Home Chef:

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a
• Experience working in care homes, healthcare, education, hospitality or other high-volume catering environments.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
• Experience preparing meals for larger groups.
• An understanding of the nutritional requirements of older people.
• Experience catering for specialist dietary requirements and allergies.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
• A flexible and reliable approach to temporary and agency work.
