Job summary

SkyCare is hiring Care Assistants / Senior HCA with NVQ2 & 3 in the United Kingdom. The role is full-time (33-44 hours per week) with a starting hourly rate of £12.82 and no sponsorship.

DBS check and references required, and a commutable distance to the role is essential. Responsibilities include personal care, therapeutic engagement, monitoring and reporting, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support patients with mental health needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in a care role, with dementia, brain injury or nursing home experience desirable.
• Care Certificate or equivalent desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Cheerful, compassionate, respectful and caring approach with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and support to patients, including daily living activities.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities to aid recovery and de-escalate agitation when needed.
• Observe and document patient conditions; report changes to nursing staff.
• Create a safe, dignified, and compassionate environment.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement care plans.
• Recognise distress signs and respond to ensure patient safety.

Work Environment

This position is crucial in the healthcare system, as Mental Health Care Assistants play a vital role in helping individuals manage their mental health conditions and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Provide personal care and support to patients, including assistance with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and dressing.


• Therapeutic Engagement: Engage with patients in therapeutic activities to promote recovery and alleviate distress. This includes identifying factors that may increase agitation and employing de-escalation techniques when necessary.


• Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and document patients' conditions, including any changes in behavior or mood, and report these to the nursing staff.


• Supportive Environment: Create a safe and compassionate environment for patients, ensuring their dignity and privacy are respected at all times.


• Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, psychiatrists, and social workers, to implement care plans and support patients effectively.


• Crisis Intervention: Recognize signs of distress or crisis in patients and respond appropriately to ensure their safety and well-being.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience in a care role,experience with dementia, brain injury and nursing home is desirable


• Certifications: Holding a Care Certificate or equivalent is typically desirable.


• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.


• Cheerful, compassionate, respectful, and caring approach, and have good communication and interpersonal skills.


• Good understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults and the desire to make a positive contribution to the lives of others.
