Job summary

Bluebird Care in Newport is seeking Home Care Assistants to join our award-winning team to support clients in their own homes across Newport and surrounding areas. Driving is required to reach clients, and you will be paid for travel time and mileage as part of the role.

We offer full induction training and ongoing coaching, with flexible hours between 7am and 10pm and shifts including every other weekend. A car and license are essential, and you must have excellent English and the right to work

Qualifications

• Full and valid UK driving licence required.
• Access to a car/vehicle.
• Excellent level of English.
• Right to work in the UK; not eligible for sponsorship.
• Age 18+.

Responsibilities

• Providing personal care.
• Administering medication.
• Manual handling of equipment when required.
• Promoting health and wellbeing of clients.
• Providing companionship and helping with activities/appointments.
• Planning, preparing and cooking meals.
• Shopping and domestic tasks within the home.

Skills

What We Do

We are committed to providing high quality care for people in the comfort of their own homes (as an alternative to residential care) throughout Newport and the surrounding area of South Monmouthshire. This means that you will need to drive and have your own vehicle to work for us.

While many companies only pay Care Assistants for contact time, we believe that you should be paid for every minute that you work. That's why we pay our carers for travel time and mileage too.

Roles & Responsibilities of a Care Assistant

Including but not limited to:

• Providing personal care
• Administering medication
• Manual handling - using equipment where required
• Promoting customer health and wellbeing
• Providing companionship and help with activities/appointments
• Planning, preparing and cooking meals
• Shopping and undertaking domestic tasks around the home

Your Experience and Suitability for the Care Assistant Role

Previous experience as a carer isn't necessary. We will provide you with all the training and support you will need, together with ongoing coaching/mentoring.

To become a Bluebird Care Assistant, you will need:

• A full and valid UK driving licence
• Access to a car/vehicle
• The right to work in the UK (unfortunately we cannot provide sponsorship)
• An excellent level of English
• To be aged 18+

Because We Care About You

We deliver care 7 days/week and 365 days/year between the hours of 7am - 10pm.

We will always try to be flexible, but we will require you to work every other weekend.
