Job summary

Advantage Healthcare, part of City & County Healthcare Group, is seeking a compassionate support worker to provide overnight assistance for a child with a complex neuromuscular condition in the family home.

You will be 1:1, help with mobility, personal care, and communication, using Makaton and visual prompts. Prior complex care experience is advantageous; DBS checks and training provided.

Qualifications

• Overnight care experience is not required, but comfort with night shifting is essential.
• Experience with complex care is advantageous.
• Ability to engage child using Makaton and visual prompts.

Job Description

What you'll do

Our client is a child with a complex neuromuscular condition who requires a kind, caring, and engaging support worker to provide overnight assistance within the family home. Our client has a medical history that includes significant early health challenges and ongoing enzyme therapy, which is currently showing positive improvements in strength and development.

Support is required during the night to ensure our client's safety, comfort, and reassurance. The role involves being attentive and interactive when needed, responding appropriately to care needs, and helping to maintain a calm environment. Our client enjoys conversation, social interaction, toys, and screen-based activities, and communicates verbally with additional support through visual prompts and Makaton.

The successful applicant will be patient, reliable, and compassionate, helping our client and family feel safe and supported throughout the night. Experience with complex needs is desirable, though a caring and confident approach is essential.
