Job summary

St Mary's Chanterlands in Hull is seeking a caring Care Assistant to join St Mary's Care Group. You will support residents with daily living, promote independence, and help create a warm, home-like atmosphere.

The role is permanent, full-time (38.5 hours per week, including alternate weekends) with training and support provided. Experience is welcomed but not essential; a positive, compassionate attitude is valued. Sponsorship is not available.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Care Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting residents to live comfortably, safely, and independently while maintaining their dignity and individuality.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and other daily living activities.
• Providing emotional, physical, social, and practical support tailored to individual needs.
• Building meaningful relationships with residents and getting to know their life stories, interests, and preferences.
• Assisting residents with mobility needs and promoting independence wherever possible.
• Supporting residents living with dementia, confusion, or other complex needs with patience and compassion.
• Promoting comfort, dignity, and wellbeing at all times.
• Assisting with continence care and monitoring residents' wellbeing.
• Supporting residents receiving palliative or end-of-life care.
• Observing and recording changes in residents' wellbeing and reporting concerns to senior team members.
• Completing daily care documentation accurately and in line with company policies.
• Encouraging residents to participate in activities, hobbies, and social events that bring enjoyment and purpose.
• Welcoming visitors and helping create a warm, family atmosphere throughout the home.
• Answering nurse call systems and responding promptly to residents' needs.
• Maintaining clean, safe, and comfortable living environments.
• Supporting the wider team to ensure every resident receives the highest standard of care.
