Job summary

Bluebird Care Isle of Wight is seeking a compassionate Care Assistant to join our expert team, delivering high-quality, person-centred support in clients' homes across the island. You’ll provide personal care, help with meals, mobility, medication reminders and social companionship, with full induction training and ongoing development through the Bluebird Academy.

Flexible shift patterns, competitive hourly pay up to £14–£28, DBS checks, paid mileage, pension and round-the-clock team support

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Calm, compassionate attitude suitable for care work.
  • Right to Work in the UK (no sponsorship/VISA transfers).
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to follow care plans; training provided.
  • Care experience beneficial but not required; full training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, personalised care tailored to each client’s needs.
  • Assist with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming).
  • Help with meals, nutrition and preparation.
  • Support with medications, prescriptions and safe disposal.
  • Carry out light housework and maintain a clean living environment.
  • Be a dependable, friendly face for customers you care for.

Responsibilities

As a Care Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high-quality care tailored to each person’s individual needs
  • Assist with personal care (e.g. bathing, dressing, grooming)
  • Help with meal prepping, preparation and nutrition
  • Support with medication, prescriptions and safe disposal
  • Carry out light housework like tidying, laundry and general cleaning
  • Be a dependable friendly, familiar face for all the customers you care for

Competitive rates of pay up to £14 per hour.

£28 per hour on Bank Holidays

Paid mileage

Full induction training and paid shift-shadowing

Requirements
  • *A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle*

  • Ability to follow care plans
  • Previous care experience is beneficial but not a necessity as full training will be provided
