‘Supporting you to live your life’.
We are an aging population with people living longer, which means there are more older people in our communities who require support and practical help to stay safely and independently in their own homes.
Using a person-centred approach, this rewarding role involves working with people (predominantly over 65) providing personalized support in their homes, encouraging them to build upon their abilities.
Tasks may include supporting with personal care, assisting with medication, preparing and cooking meals, and other activities suited to the individual's needs within their home.
If you are caring, friendly, positive, cheerful, with excellent communication skills and able to work with minimal supervision, this could be a very rewarding role. We offer comprehensive training, guaranteed hours, a pension scheme, ongoing support, and learning opportunities. Flexibility is essential.
Current contracts are 24.5 hours per week on a fixed rotational pattern.
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential. If you have a disability that prevents holding a licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
An SVQ Level 2 in Social Care or equivalent is desirable but not essential initially, as full training will be provided. You will be required to complete this qualification.
This role is considered regulated work with Vulnerable Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check before a formal offer of employment is made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have resided outside the UK within the last 5 years will need to provide a police record check from the relevant authorities in their country of residence, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
