The Role
Vacancies have arisen within Ward 9 at University Hospital Hairmyres, for two Health care support workers. This consist of a 29.6 hour and a 22.6 hour rotational post within a busy cardiology ward. We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic individuals to join our team.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will carry out care duties for patients, in support of a registered nurse, and will regularly work unsupervised.
The post holder will carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward environment.
Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.

What we'll need you to bring
- SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role
- Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.
- Ability to work unsupervised
- To actively participate in the Personal Development Plan process to fulfil the requirements of continuing professional development
- Working knowledge of basic information technology
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
- Required to undertake on the job training and induction
- Undertake mandatory Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) Standards
- Relevant experience working as a Band 2
- Previous patient contact and care in acute or equivalent
- Knowledge of personal care and related procedures or previous volunteer or work experience in a health, education or social care environment
- Completion of mandatory/compulsory Learnpro modules
- Knowledge of CAAS and its application in a clinical setting
- Understanding of the specific complex care needs of cardiology patients.
- Interest in caring for patients pre and post cardiology procedure (ie angio/ppm insertion)
- Able to carry out ECGS
- Working knowledge of NEWS 2
- Able to identify the deteriorating patient
- Provision of end of life care
- Completion of documentation and risk assessments
- Supervision and mentoring of HNC Students

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in ward 9 within University Hospital Hairmyres
The working pattern for this role is: rotational day/night/weekend
