Job summary

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Cardiology Clinical Research Fellow to join the CIRU at Royal Sussex County Hospital for a 24-month period. The post supports an MD thesis and involves contributing to a large NIHR cardiology research portfolio, while gaining multi-centre trial experience.

The role includes active participation in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching, plus involvement in audits or initiating new ones as part of a dynamic research team.

Qualifications

• Essential: Basic Medical Degree.
• Essential: Postgraduate qualification or appropriate specialist qualification.
• Essential: Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice.
• Essential: Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent.
• Desirable: MRCP (UK) or equivalent; an intercalated BSc or equivalent research training qualification.

Responsibilities

• Develop the MD project hypothesis, experimental design, ethics applications.
• Liaise with collaborators and keep detailed records of work.
• Present research at local and international meetings.
• Write up research for publication and register for the MD degree.
• Abide by university regulations for the medical doctorate programme; submit the thesis.
