Job summary

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Cardiologist to strengthen our Cardiology services and develop advanced pathways in collaboration with local tertiary centres. The role offers opportunities to specialise in areas such as coronary intervention, device management, or heart failure, with scope to pursue a sub-specialty.

You will participate in teaching, supervise junior staff, and contribute to service development across an NHS trust that values innovation

We are looking to appoint a Consultant Cardiologist to further develop our highly rated Cardiology services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.


This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to make a difference by supporting the development of cardiology pathways and services, including collaboration with local tertiary referral centres.


A specialist interest such as coronary intervention, device implementation, or heart failure management would be welcomed, however, we are happy to discuss alternatives with the right candidate, and it is anticipated that there will be occasion for the appointee to develop a sub-specialty interest within the role.

Qualifications


  • MRCP/FRCP or equivalent.

  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise and entry on GMC specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview.

  • Valid provider status in ALS.

  • Instructor status in life support course(s)

  • Qualification in NHS management

  • Teaching qualifications.


Experience


  • Higher specialist training scheme in Cardiology and/or General Medicine

  • Good understanding of UK Cardiology process.

  • Experience in NHS management

  • Teaching experience.

  • Additional sub-speciality training in Cardiology

  • Experience in device implantations

  • Sound knowledge of multiple NHS structure and systems.


Skills


  • Ability to teach clinical skills.

  • Ability to clinically supervise junior staff.

  • Understand research methodology

  • Good Command of spoken and written English.

  • IT literate

  • Ability to lead and manage ED staff.
