Job summary

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced System Manager to lead its risk information management system, Ideagen Guardian. You will ensure the tool provides a clear, reliable view of organisational risk and safety, while supporting staff and stakeholders across the Trust.

The role focuses on configuring the system, driving full utilization, and delivering insightful reports to enable improvement and assurance at governance levels.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in information or system management.
• Proven experience collaborating with staff from diverse backgrounds on projects.
• Experience with risk information management systems (InPhase/Ideagen Guardian).
• Experience in an NHS operational environment and working with clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Support the Information System Lead for Ideagen in configuration and development.

Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven System Manager to take a leading role in developing and managing the Trust’s risk information management system - Ideagen Healthcare Guardian (formally InPhase) .

This is a critical role at the centre of our quality governance framework. You will be the Trust’s expert for its information risk management system. This will include ensuring that our technology, data, and processes work together to provide a clear, reliable, and actionable picture of organisational risk and safety.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will:

• Support the Information System Lead for Ideagen (InPhase) in leading its configuration, optimisation, and ongoing development
• Drive full utilisation of system functionality across modules (e.g. incident reporting, risk registers, audits, policies)
• Ensure data quality, standardisation, and integrity, implementing validation rules and consistent taxonomy
• Lead system change control, upgrades, and development, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Design and deliver reports and dashboards that translate complex data into meaningful intelligence
• Provide expert advice and training to staff across the Trust, enabling confident and consistent use of the system

You will ensure that the risk management information system is not just a repository of information - but a powerful tool for insight, improvement, and assurance.

Qualifications and Training

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in information / system management, or evidence of working towards degree-level or equivalent.

Experience

• Proven experience of effective collaboration with staff of different professional and managerial backgrounds in managing specific projects.
• Proven experience of working with a risk information management system such as InPhase, developing the system and supporting end users.
• Proven experience of working in an NHS operational environment and managing working relationships with clinicians.
• Experience of working in risk management systems in a large, complex organisation embracing a range of different activities.
• Proven experience of working with board members and board sub-committees, managing, and influencing non-executive directors.
• Facilitating and supporting teams to identify, assess, and manage operational risks, including mitigation plans.

Skills and Knowledge

• Understanding of risk and information management, assurance, and the concept of an 'internal control' system
• Understanding of the internal and external context within which NHS bodies operate.
• Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed, using own initiative and working largely autonomously.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop other staff.
