Job summary

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Cardiac Physiologist at Wexham Park Hospital. You will undertake a broad range of non-invasive and invasive cardiac investigations, including ECG interpretation, ambulatory monitoring, and ETT, while developing skills towards independent practice in the cardiac cath lab.

The role supports a 24/7 PPCI service and requires commitment to CPD, professional standards, and patient safety within a forward-thinking cardiology department.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria: BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent; registration with the appropriate body.
• Desirable criteria: Immediate Life Support (ILS).
• Experience: wide knowledge of cardiac investigation procedures and proficiency in exercise tolerance testing with resting and ambulatory ECG and BP recording/interpretation.
• Desirable criteria: basic competencies in cardiac catheter adjuncts such as IVUS, PWS.

Responsibilities

• Perform a range of non-invasive and invasive cardiac investigations autonomously in line with training.
• Independently perform 12-lead ECGs, fit ambulatory monitors, analyse results and produce accurate reports.
• Lead exercise tolerance testing (ETT) and ensure patient safety throughout.
• Support the cardiac catheterisation laboratory with haemodynamic monitoring and on-call support during procedures.
• Develop skills in advanced interventional techniques including IVUS, PWS, OCT and Shockwave.
• Respond effectively to emergencies/cardiac arrests and contribute to the 24/7 PPCI on-call rota.
• Maintain professional competence via CPD and adherence to guidelines and safety standards.
