Job summary

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a capable staff nurse for the cardiac day unit. The role focuses on pre-assessment, procedure support and recovery for day-case cardiac patients, including pacemaker insertions, angiograms and dobutamine stress echoes.

The post offers mentoring, training and a supportive environment with ward-based teaching and clinical governance aligned to national standards.

Qualifications

• RN with NMC registration and current practice in adult nursing.
• Degree or diploma in nursing and ongoing professional development.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary cardiac setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Pre-assessment of patients attending for day case cardiac procedures.
• Procedural and post-procedure care for pacemaker insertions, angiograms, TOE and related tests.
• Assist medical staff with day case cardiology procedures.
• Maintain high standards of patient assessment, care, and evaluation.
• Contribute to service development with the Department Manager and Charge Nurse.
• Promote a nurse-led environment and follow Trust policies and national standards.
• Participate in teaching, education and training activities.
• Be mindful of budget and resource management within the unit.
