Reports to: Global Head of Finance - Products

Location: Hybrid (Peterborough/London)

Key accountabilities

This is a vital role within the Travelex Finance team supporting regulated card programmes. The role involves oversight and management of financial obligations aligned with regulatory and card scheme requirements. Day-to-day activities are managed by our programme manager or offshore team colleagues.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Finance manager with experience in regulated banking or payments businesses.

As a subject matter expert in card issuing finance, you will support projects and provide guidance, ensuring compliance and supportability from a financial operations perspective.

Technical Activities

Finance

• Monitor and control working capital.
• Manage card load values with issuing bank fund holdings, including aggregate values, delays, prefunding, and fees.
• Track and reconcile customer funds by currency, managing surpluses or deficits.
• Reconcile transaction activity across issuing and Mastercard networks, including chargebacks and fees.
• Optimize cash management with banks and payment providers.
• Manage foreign exchange exposures effectively.
• Ensure timely and accurate regulatory and card scheme financial obligations are met.
• Lead budget preparation and reforecasts for the Card self-Issuing entity.
• Collaborate with offshore general ledger team to review monthly P&L and balance sheets against budgets.
• Monitor KPIs and SLAs, and review reconciliations regularly.
• Prepare monthly management reports with insights for Business and Product teams.
• Identify improvements in reporting standards, processes, and systems.
• Handle finance queries related to card issuing and programme management.
• Lead finance aspects of card issuing projects or initiatives.
• Support offshore finance team.
• Ensure timely statutory accounts and year-end audits.

Relationship management

• Manage relationships across functions within Travelex.
• Partner with the Cards business team.
• Serve as the Finance SME for Cards issuing, offering finance, commercial, and regulatory insights.
• Support colleagues with financial obligations related to card issuing.

Management Information

• Provide accurate and timely MI analysis for decision-making.
• Work with the business to meet MI needs.
• Develop reporting systems and processes aligned with strategy.

Communication

• Engage actively with colleagues and customers for feedback.
• Hold relevant accounting qualifications (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).
• Demonstrate experience in the card payment industry, preferably in prepaid/fintech or e-money.
• Be comfortable with regulatory and card scheme financial activities.
• Knowledge of fund sweeping and pooling for payment processing.
• Familiarity with Conduct Risk and Consumer Duty.
• Proficiency in modelling and ad hoc analysis of card programmes.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
• Experience with multi-currency products.
• Knowledge of regulatory audits and interviews.
• Familiarity with Open Banking and Straight Through Payment Processing.
