Job summary

A leading marine science research organization in Southampton seeks a Carbon Budget Scientist for a three-year postdoctoral research position. Overview

The Carbon Budget Scientist (in MPOC) is part of the NERC-funded ABC-fluxes project (Atlantic BiogeoChemical fluxes – http://www.rapid.ac.uk/abc/about). You will synthesise Argo data, GO-SHIP observations and data from moored sensors and samplers on the RAPID array at 26.5°N to understand the strength and variability of nutrient and carbon transports across the section and their controls of ocean carbon uptake in the North Atlantic. You should have experience of analysing biogeochemical and/or physical observations.

Term

This is a Fixed Term Appointment, with funding on a full-time basis for three years offered on NERC terms and conditions and open to internal and external candidates. We welcome applications for full and part-time working.

About you

You will be a motivated and productive scientist, joining a network of international researchers involved as project partners, investigators, postdoctoral researchers and students. The ability to work as part of such a team is essential.

Salary

This is a postdoctoral research (Band 6) position and the salary band will be £28,200 to £30,600 per annum.

Part-time and benefits

For part-time posts, the salary will be calculated on a pro rata basis and all part-time employees will have full access to NERC benefits.

Hours of Work

The hours of working are 37 hours per week for a full-time post and reduced pro-rata for a part-time post.
