Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Capital Project Manager (Band 7) to coordinate and manage capital investment, backlog maintenance and estates safety projects at Scunthorpe General Hospital. The post requires extensive on-site experience and strong stakeholder engagement with clinicians, managers and contractors.

Knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering is desirable, with responsibility for planning, delivery and performance management within the Estates,

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND in Building Services / Construction in Built Environment or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience managing construction/refurbishment/mechanical or electrical projects.
  • Clear understanding in the use of CAD.

Job overview

A Capital Project Manager within the Estates, Facilities, and Development Directorate coordinates and manages various Capital Investment, Backlog Maintenance, and Estates Safety Projects. The role requires significant on-site experience managing multiple stakeholders, including Contractors, Design Teams, Consultants, Principal Designers, Building Control, and User and Patient Experience Groups.

While extensive experience in the built environment is essential, knowledge of Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering is desirable. The Project Manager is responsible for planning, delivery, and performance management, adjusting plans as needed to mitigate risks and ensure successful outcomes.

Key responsibilities include rigorous oversight of projects, including risk and issue management. The role requires close collaboration with clinicians and managers to optimize patient experience and service delivery. The Project Manager must work with a broad range of stakeholders to manage interdependencies and ensure the successful achievement of evolving project objectives based on demand and funding.

Additionally, the role involves managing project finances, overseeing the ordering process, and ensuring financial control and adherence to budgets. The Project Manager is also responsible for obtaining briefs and developing tender documentation in line with Trust financial instructions.

Specific projects managed by the post holder will change over time as the portfolio of work changes.
