Job summary

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a portfolio of capital projects within its Property & Facilities Management Team. You will drive schemes from feasibility through to construction, coordinating with clinical and estates staff, consultants and contractors.

The role requires strong background in construction, engineering, surveying or design, with proven ability to manage budgets, programmes and risk.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Architecture, Surveying or Engineering or Qualification in a design construction related discipline
• Corporate Membership of a construction related institute or body (e.g. RIBA, RICS, CIOB)

Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility studies and design development with budget estimates.
• Coordinate end-user briefs and ensure requirements defined, agreed and approved.
• Coordinate detailed design information with internal and external design teams.
• Manage projects from inception through to completion, on and off site.
• Monitor budgets, programmes and financial risks, taking early action where required.
• Provide professional and technical advice on capital projects and estate development.
• Identify procurement routes in line with Trust Standing Orders and SFIs.
• Prepare technical specifications and tender documentation for small schemes.
• Manage external consultants and contractors, monitoring performance.
• Build relationships with clinical, operational and Estates colleagues to ensure delivery.
• Provide progress updates and reports, including fortnightly where required.
• Maintain electronic project records, CAD information and documentation.
• Ensure as-built drawings are obtained and maintained for completed projects.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join the Property & Facilities Management Team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a proactive and experienced professional with a strong background in construction, engineering, surveying or design to lead the delivery of a varied portfolio of capital projects across Frimley Health and community sites.

You will have delegated responsibility for taking individual schemes from initial feasibility and design through to construction and completion, with accountability for project budgets, quality, programme and overall delivery. Projects will include new build, refurbishment, backlog maintenance and other capital works, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Trust's estate.

Main duties of the job

You will lead a diverse portfolio of major and minor capital projects across the Trust estate and wider Frimley Health Integrated Care System (ICS). This is a varied role that will see you working closely with clinical and operational teams, Estates and Facilities colleagues, Capital Directors, Estates Managers and CAD Technicians, alongside external consultants, contractors and other key stakeholders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will manage a diverse portfolio of major and minor capital projects across the Trust estate and wider Frimley Health Integrated Care System (ICS).

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading feasibility studies and design development, including the preparation of whole-scheme budget estimates.
• Developing project briefs with end users and ensuring requirements are clearly defined, agreed and approved.
• Coordinating detailed design information with internal and external design teams.
• Managing projects from inception through to completion, both on and off site.
• Monitoring project budgets, programmes and financial risks, taking early action where required.
• Providing professional and technical advice on capital projects and estate development.
• Identifying appropriate procurement routes in line with Trust Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs).
• Preparing technical specifications and tender documentation for smaller capital schemes and managing the associated tender processes.
• Managing external consultants and contractors, monitoring performance and ensuring high standards of workmanship.
• Building effective relationships with clinical, operational and Estates and Facilities colleagues to ensure project requirements are understood and delivered.
• Providing clear and timely progress updates and formal project reports, including fortnightly reporting where required.
• Maintaining accurate electronic project records, CAD information and technical documentation.
• Ensuring accurate as-built and as-installed drawings are obtained and maintained for completed projects.
• Ensuring projects comply with relevant legislation, Trust policies, procedures, contractual requirements and governance arrangements.
• Supporting the Associate Director of Hard FM with delivery of the capital programme and contributing to the strategic development of the Trust estate.
• Working flexibly across the Frimley Health ICSPatch as required.

About You

We are seeking a solutions-focused and professionally experienced Project Manager who can demonstrate substantial experience of delivering complex capital schemes.
