Job summary

South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is recruiting for a Capital & Financial Accountant to lead capital accounting, fixed asset management and IFRS 16 lease accounting within the Financial Services team. The role involves governance, reporting and collaboration with Estates, Digital Services and operational teams to support a multi-million-pound capital programme.

Qualifications

• Experience in NHS finance or capital accounting is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail required.
• Ability to explain complex financial information to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management of the Trust's fixed asset register.
• Support the financial governance and reporting of the capital programme.
• Provide specialist advice on capital accounting, IFRS 16 lease accounting and VAT.
• Prepare complex accounting journals, reconciliations and statutory returns.
• Contribute to the production of the Trust's annual accounts.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with Finance, Estates and Digital Services to ensure robust financial controls.
