Job summary

Thames Water is seeking an Asset Planner to own and continuously refine long-term site and system plans across water assets. You will lead cross-functional collaborations, prioritise projects for 5-year Asset Management Periods (AMPs) and ensure robust submissions to decision gates.

The role requires analytical thinkers who can influence at all levels and manage risk effectively. The base location is hybrid with a Reading office requirement on Tuesdays; the role is full-time, 36 hours per week,

Responsibilities

• Own the plan for your sites and systems and stay involved as plans are delivered through sponsorship.
• Lead the development of integrated site plans by facilitating cross-functional collaboration and sequencing interventions.
• Continuously update and maintain site and system-level plans adapting to project changes.
• Gather long-term strategic input from Asset Strategy for AMP planning and price reviews.
• Develop and prioritise projects for 5-year AMP cycles with engineering inputs and robust submissions.
• Create and manage system-wide plans across abstraction, treatment, storage, pumping, and sludge assets.
• Deliver on capital maintenance plans and spend in relation to asset health and ODI targets.
• Monitor asset condition, maintenance standards and anticipated failure rates.
• Support external engagement activities to align stakeholders with our strategic plans.

What you'll be doing as an Asset Planner

• You will own the plan for your sites and systems and stay involved in the plans as they are delivered through the sponsorship model.
• Lead the development of integrated site plans by facilitating cross-functional collaboration, identifying interdependencies and determining the optimal sequencing of interventions.
• Continuously update and maintain comprehensive site and system-level plans, adapting to project changes and reflecting evolving priorities across the asset lifecycle.
• Gather long-term strategic input from Asset Strategy to inform Price Review 29 planning and ensure alignment with future needs.
• Develop and prioritise projects for current and future 5-yearly Asset Management Periods (AMPs), incorporating engineering insights and defining technical scope for robust submissions to decision gates.
• Create and manage system-wide plans across abstraction, treatment, storage, pumping, and sludge assets - addressing capital maintenance, growth, enhancement, and quality goals.
• Deliver on Capital maintenance plans and the efficient spend in relation to asset health and supporting our Outcome Delivery Incentives.
• Monitor and evaluate asset condition, maintenance standards and anticipated failure rates.
• Support external engagement activities, helping stakeholders understand and align with our strategic plans.

Base Location: Hybrid - Base location is flexible across the Thames Valley and Home Counties region but must be able to attend our Reading office every Tuesday.

Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday-Friday. (36 hours per week)

Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring

• Knowledgeable about water and wastewater systems and external impacts.
• Professional membership of an engineering, environmental or asset management organisation is an advantage.
• Ideally, understand regulatory processes, such as price reviews or annual returns.

• Competitive salaries up to £46,000 to £57,000 per annum, depending on experience.
