Position Overview:

Working within an industry-leading organisation at Finning, the world's largest CAT dealership, your role as Rebuild Repair Engineer will involve carrying out reconditioning and maintenance on Caterpillar products and supporting 2nd life overhauls within the Construction Equipment product group.

We seek a highly experienced and motivated individual with strong electrical, hydraulic, and engine troubleshooting skills, suited for a large workshop environment, responsible for repair and maintenance of CAT machinery.

Job Description:
Major Job Functions
  1. Conduct detailed inspections of machines to verify or expand on initial field reports, enabling a commercial assessment for repairs, replacements, or refurbishment.
  2. Perform diagnosis tests on machine components for accurate cost evaluation and to support condition and warranty assessments.
  3. Create comprehensive parts and materials lists for machine preparation.
  4. Undertake overhaul, repair, or refurbishment work according to the work plan, including component removal, dispatch, and reinstallation or repair.
  5. Inspect and test completed machines to ensure they meet performance expectations.

Knowledge

Deep understanding of service manuals, computerised Service Information Systems (SIS), tooling, specialised equipment, rigging, slinging, jacking procedures, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical fitting knowledge.

Accountability

Adhere to job times, ensure high-quality machine finishes, maintain machine availability, and uphold SHEQ standards with a tidy, safe working environment.

Education and Experience

Preferably with a background in materials handling, either apprentice-trained or with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar industry. A reach truck license is required. Practical experience with construction equipment in confined spaces and mechanical fitting on large machines.
