Position Overview:
Working within an industry-leading organisation at Finning, the world's largest CAT dealership, your role as Rebuild Repair Engineer involves reconditioning and maintenance on Caterpillar products, supporting 2nd life overhauls within the Construction Equipment product group.
We seek a highly experienced and motivated individual with strong electrical, hydraulic, and engine troubleshooting skills, suited to a large workshop environment, responsible for repair and maintenance of CAT machinery.
Job Description:
Major Job Functions
- Conduct detailed inspections of machines to confirm or expand initial field inspection reports, enabling a commercial assessment of repair, replacement, or refurbishment work.
- Perform diagnosis tests on machine components for accurate cost evaluations and to issue condition and warranty reports to customers.
- Create comprehensive parts and materials lists for machine preparation work.
- Undertake overhaul, repair, or refurbishment work according to the work plan, including component removal, dispatch for specialist attention, and reinstallation or repair of parts.
- Inspect and test completed machines to ensure they meet expected performance standards.

Knowledge
- Deep understanding of service manuals and OEM's Service Information System (SIS).
- Practical knowledge of tooling, specialised equipment, rigging, slinging, and jacking procedures.
- Electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical fitting expertise.
Accountability
- Adhere to job times, ensure high-quality machine finishes, maintain machine availability, and uphold safety and environmental standards.
Education and Experience
- Background in materials handling preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a quality service environment, or apprentice-trained.
- Valid reach truck driving license required.
- Experience operating construction equipment in confined spaces and mechanical fitting on large machinery.
