About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cancer Pathway Coordinator within the 2WW Department. This pivotal role supports the effective management of cancer patient pathways, ensuring timely access to diagnostics and treatment. The successful candidate will coordinate Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, track patient progress, and ensure data is accurately recorded and acted upon to maintain compliance with national cancer targets.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare for and attend MDT meetings, recording clinical outcomes in real time.
  2. Record actions and ensure they are communicated to relevant stakeholders, including GPs, within 24 hours.
  3. Proactively manage cancer pathways to ensure treatment is delivered within nationally set targets.
  4. Monitor individual patient journeys, identify delays, and take corrective actions as needed.
  5. Escalate deviations from the expected pathway to the Executive Cancer Lead, following escalation policies.
  6. Rebook and reprioritise appointments to maintain pathway continuity, in communication with patients.
  7. Coordinate with service areas for appointment scheduling, diagnostics, and treatments.
  8. Report on Cancer Waiting Times Data Collections, COSD Core & COSD Pathology datasets.
  9. Report on LQRs in accordance with Schedule 4&6 of NHS Contractual Requirements.
  10. Collaborate with MDTs and improvement initiatives to streamline patient journeys.
  11. Participate in audits and patient satisfaction surveys to improve services.
What we need from you
  • Previous NHS experience or equivalent healthcare background.
  • Familiarity with clinical systems and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality and data protection.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and patient administration systems.
  • Experience in data collection, validation, and reporting.
  • Experience working with clinical teams.
