Job summary

Reconomy Connect, in the London area, is seeking a Waste Supervisor to lead the on-site waste management and recycling team supporting University of Hertfordshire sites. The role is 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, onsite.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, drive sustainability, build relationships with CBRE and university management, and ensure safety and compliance while delivering high service levels with hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Live within commutable distance to AL10 9AB.
• Proven experience in waste management, recycling, or environmental services.
• Experience leading, motivating and developing a team.
• Experience in large-scale operational, manufacturing, facilities or site-based environment.
• Hands-on approach with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent communication and customer-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the on-site recycling team, ensuring a safe, efficient and high-quality service.
• Manage day-to-day waste and recycling operations, keeping the site running smoothly and productively.
• Build strong relationships with CBRE, the University of Hertfordshire, and key stakeholders across campus.
• Drive sustainability by maximising recycling rates and reducing general waste.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance service efficiency and performance.
• Proactively resolve operational challenges and support business continuity planning.
• Keep stakeholders informed with regular updates, service information and improvement opportunities.
• Champion health, safety and compliance, ensuring best practice is followed at all times.
