Job summary

Reconomy Connect is seeking a Waste Supervisor to join our team supporting University of Hertfordshire sites. You will lead a on-site waste and recycling operation, drive sustainability, and ensure safe, compliant service across campus.

The role is part-time (32.5 hours weekly) with Monday to Friday shifts, reporting to on-site management and collaborating with CBRE and university teams to deliver reliable waste solutions.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required.
• Experience in waste management, recycling, or environmental services.
• Experience leading, motivating and developing a team.
• Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.

About the role

Looking for a role where no two days are the same? As our Waste Supervisor, you'll play a key role in keeping the University of Hertfordshire sites running smoothly, leading a dedicated team that delivers essential waste management and recycling services across campus. Working 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, you'll champion sustainability by helping maximise recycling rates, ensuring waste is managed safely and efficiently, and supporting both the CBRE and University management teams.

You'll also oversee a range of added-value site services, building strong relationships with stakeholders and driving best practice every day. If you're a hands-on leader who enjoys making a visible impact, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

What we need from you

• A full UK driving licence.
• Live within a commutable distance to work onsite AL10 9AB.
• Proven experience within waste management, recycling, or environmental services.
• Previous experience leading, motivating, and developing a team.
• Experience working in a large-scale operational, manufacturing, facilities, or site-based environment.
• A hands-on approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
