Job summary

Leeds City College is looking for a Campus Safety Officer to protect students, staff and visitors across our campuses. You will be a visible, approachable presence, supporting the student experience while maintaining safety and security at Printworks and related sites.

The role requires teamwork, effective communication and a proactive approach to safety, safeguarding and incident response. GCSEs and an SIA licence are preferred, with support to obtain the licence if needed.

Qualifications

• Experience working in security, safety, customer service or public-facing roles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Hold a valid SIA licence or be willing to obtain one, with cost funded by employer.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out regular patrols of campus buildings and grounds.
• Providing a professional and welcoming first point of contact.
• Monitoring access to College premises and maintaining site security.
• Responding to incidents, emergencies and welfare concerns.
• Supporting safeguarding activity and positive student behaviour.
• Monitoring CCTV systems and completing security checks.
• Acting as a First Aider and supporting emergency responses.
• Completing reports and maintaining accurate records.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies.
• Contributing to ongoing improvements in campus safety and customer service.
