Job summary

Cranfield Quality Services at Cranfield University is seeking a Casual Kitchen Assistant to join the catering team. The role focuses on hands-on food preparation and supporting multiple kitchens across campus.

Hours are daytime with some evenings and weekends; full training and uniforms are provided. This position offers opportunities for progression within Campus Services and a friendly, supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic and reliable candidate for casual kitchen work.
• Available for daytime shifts with some flexible evenings/weekends.
• Not suitable for visa-restricted applicants limited to 20 hours or fewer per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of buffets, sandwiches, salads, and accompaniments.
• Prepare fruit, vegetables, meat, and fish to high standards with food safety in mind.
• Ensure timely delivery and attractive presentation of food for service.
• Maintain excellent hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation areas.
• Support general kitchen duties when required.
• Work efficiently and calmly under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Adapt to working in different kitchens and outlets across campus.
