Job summary

Bangor University Estates Management advertises a permanent, full-time grounds and gardens role. You will maintain the outdoor estate to a high standard, undertaking grass cutting, hedge/tree work, litter picking, weeding, spraying, planting and paving/jet-washing duties.

You will operate chainsaws and mowers, read site plans, and work safely with colleagues and the public. NVQ Level 1 in Amenity Horticulture (or equivalent) is required; Welsh language skills are desirable.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 1 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to undertake COSHH training.
• Full driving licence (ideally B+E).
• Experience with grounds maintenance tasks and operating hand‑held tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Bangor University estate to an acceptable standard, including grass cutting, hedge and tree work, litter picking, weeding and planting.
• Undertake external hard landscaping, pavement jet washing and paving repairs as required.
• Operate hand-held tools and machinery (chainsaws, mowers, wood-chippers) and carry out winching operations.
• Read and interpret site and planting plans; work safely and in line with university procedures.
• Participate in seasonal on-call/weekend rota and gritting duties; assist with special events.
