Job summary

BIMM University is seeking a Building & Maintenance Officer to support day-to-day operations across campus facilities in Birmingham. The role ensures teaching spaces and shared areas are well maintained and safe for student activity.

You will manage routine inspections, coordinate contractor work, and provide first-line IT support. The post requires flexibility with shift patterns and a practical, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in building, maintenance or facilities environments.
• Good organizational skills and ability to prioritise workloads.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Practical, solutions-focused approach with sound judgement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operation of campus buildings and ensure spaces are prepared and maintained.
• Coordinate opening and closing of buildings with security requirements.
• Take ownership of building presentation and resolve issues affecting the campus environment.
• Carry out routine inspections and basic repairs; escalate as needed.
• Liaise with contractors to coordinate maintenance and ensure safe access.
• Maintain records of inspections, defects and completed works.
• Support health and safety processes and risk assessments.
• Provide first-line IT/equipment support and use maintenance systems to log requests.
