Job summary

WEG Engineering and Technology is seeking an Electrical Technician to deliver maintenance across a large university campus in Coventry. You will perform planned, reactive and fault-diagnosis work on electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring safe operations and compliance with SLAs.

You will join a small team within a 150+ maintenance department, supporting critical facilities with cost-effective fixes and appropriate safety practices.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance or equivalent.
• City & Guilds 236/2330 Levels 2 & 3 (AM2) or equivalent.
• 18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulations (2382) compliance.
• Inspection & Testing qualification (2395) or equivalent.
• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent with health & safety knowledge.
• Full UK/EU driving licence.
• Willingness to participate in out-of-hours call-out rota (1 in 4 weeks).
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems BS 5839.
• Experience with LV/HV AP and safe entry into confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Respond to job requests via the notification system and resolve safely within SLAs.
• Respond to emergencies on power, lighting, alarms, motors, BMS, and portable appliances.
• Provide planned maintenance and reactive remedial work; direct other trades when needed.
• Plan and coordinate electrical works, considering timescales, equipment and costs.
• Lead installation of minor power systems and support refurbishment and new-build projects.
• Provide technical advice on new products, equipment and installations.
• Identify and manage risks with risk assessments and method statements.
• Maintain accurate records: instructions, service reports, timesheets and documentation.
