Job summary

Abingdon and Witney College is seeking a reliable Cleaner to join our Cleaning Services Team. You will help maintain the cleanliness and safety of the campus, ensuring buildings and surrounding areas are presented to a high standard for students, staff and visitors.

This permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week) at Common Leys Campus offers early shifts from 05:00 to 09:00 and 14:30 to 18:00, with a Monday–Friday pattern.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the safe use of cleaning products and equipment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A flexible, hardworking and reliable approach.
• Understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH requirements.
• Experience working with members of the public.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning duties across a variety of areas, including classrooms, offices, corridors, communal spaces, kitchens and toilets.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the College site.
• Operate cleaning equipment and machinery safely and effectively.
• Dispose of waste in accordance with College procedures.
• Ensure cleaning materials and equipment are used and stored correctly in line with COSHH regulations.
• Report any damaged equipment or health and safety concerns promptly.
• Work flexibly to support the needs of the department and cover operational requirements.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional communication with staff, students and visitors.
