Job summary

Newcastle University is seeking an experienced Chef to join our In-House fast-paced catering team EAT@NEWCASTLE, with the flexibility to move between units on our campus. This full-time, year-round role requires a strong background in food preparation and cooking and a Level 2 Food Safety for Caterers certificate.

You will work with other chefs, contribute menu ideas, and provide direction to Commis Chefs. The role offers progression and a supportive environment within a prestigious university

Qualifications

Up-to-date knowledge of legislation in relation to Food Hygiene, HACCP and Health and Safety.
Experience in a large scale catering operation.
Awareness of current trends and issues within the catering industry.
Experience of managing people.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook across a range of techniques in a fast-paced catering department.
Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene regulations.
Lead and support Commis Chefs and other kitchen staff.
Develop menu ideas to meet diverse customer needs.
Move between units on the Newcastle campus as required.
