Job summary

The University of Nottingham is seeking a Second Chef to lead and deputise for the Head Chef in its busy catering operation. Based at University Park or Jubilee Campus, you’ll oversee kitchen and front-of-house tasks and help deliver high-quality meals to resident students.

Offer includes progression, development through qualifications and a permanent year-round contract. Expect sociable hours with weekend enhancements and opportunities for event catering and large banquets.

Qualifications

• Qualified to 706 1/2 or NVQ 1/2 in Food Production, or has relevant experience in a busy kitchen environment
• A confident chef with excellent cooking skills and supervisory experience
• Comfortable with stock management and using Microsoft Office software
• A strong team player with attention to detail and a genuine passion for food

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve consistent, high-quality meals for residents during term time
• Cater for events, conferences, and weddings up to 350 guests during vacations
• Step up in the Head Chef’s absence to lead the team and ensure smooth operations
• Engage in formal banquets and student dining activities
• Location: University Park or Jubilee Campus
