Job summary

Manpower UK is recruiting for a full-time Carpenter on behalf of a college in Oxford City Centre. The role includes carpentry, joinery, and general maintenance across the college estate, with a salary of £38,500 per year and an expectation of out-of-hours rota call-outs.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
• City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in carpentry or demonstrated practical experience.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Experience in building maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carpentry and joinery: repair, install, and maintain furniture, fixtures, shelving, doors, and windows.
• Carry out carpentry work to a high standard: measuring, cutting, fitting, finishing, repairing timber.
• Assess, prioritise and plan tasks with the Maintenance Operations Manager.
• Assist with events requiring temporary structures or minor building adaptations.
• Support out-of-hours events and conferences where maintenance is required.
• Carrying out repairs and maintenance on building systems and equipment across the college estate.
• Carry out regular planned preventative maintenance, including water hygiene, emergency lighting, and fire safety checks.
• Complete minor and medium-scale repairs to furniture and fittings.
• Coordinate with maintenance and housekeeping teams to meet standards.
• Manage workloads to meet service level agreements.
