Job summary

Quantum Scholars are looking for experienced SEND/SEMH Tutors to provide personalised one-to-one support to young people across Herefordshire. This in-person role focuses on emotional regulation, engagement and learning barriers.

The successful tutor will be calm, patient, and empathetic, building trusting relationships, managing challenging behaviour and collaborating with families and schools to support academic progress and wellbeing.

Qualifications

Experience working with children or young people with SEND/SEMH.
Significant experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour.
Calm, patient and empathetic approach to support.

Responsibilities

Providing personalised one-to-one educational and pastoral support to young people with SEND/SEMH needs.
Supporting learners who may display challenging or unpredictable behaviour.
Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
Establishing clear boundaries, routines and expectations.
Using positive behaviour support strategies to encourage engagement.
Remaining calm, patient and consistent during challenging situations.
Recognising potential triggers and adapting support accordingly.
Using de-escalation strategies when required.
Supporting emotional regulation and helping learners develop coping strategies.
Encouraging re-engagement with education and developing confidence.
