TaskUs seeks an Emergency Response Specialist to support autonomous vehicles with real-time guidance and safety oversight in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will respond to complex driving situations, coordinate with AV systems, and help optimise routes while maintaining high safety standards.

Based in the UK, the role requires a background in 999/emergency telecoms or similar, strong de-escalation skills, and a commitment to safety. Comprehensive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Background check and drug/alcohol screening required.
• Full UK driver’s license with at least 3 years driving experience and a clean record.
• Relevant experience in emergency response or 999-type roles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Navigate AVs through challenging scenarios ensuring safe, efficient routing.
• Collaborate with autonomous systems to optimise paths amid closures/traffic.
• Monitor vehicle behaviour and intervene to uphold safety standards.
• Maintain clear human‑machine communication for timely responses.

Minimum Requirements:

• Pass a background check, drug and alcohol test
• Full Valid UK drivers license with 3 years of driving experience and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:

• Navigational Assistance: Guide AVs through challenging situations, such as blocked streets, narrow lanes, and private driveways, ensuring efficient and safe navigation.
• Decision Making: Collaborate with AVs to optimise driving paths, considering factors like lane closures and traffic conditions.
• Safety Oversight: Monitor AV behaviour and intervene to prioritise safety and avoid potential hazards.
• Human‑Machine Interaction: Maintain effective communication with AVs to ensure seamless cooperation and timely responses.
• Problem Solving: Adapt to dynamic road conditions and rapidly address unexpected challenges.
• Continuous Learning: Contribute to the improvement of AV technology by analysing past performance and identifying opportunities for optimisation.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant safety regulations and certifications.

Do you have what it takes to become an Emergency Response Specialist ?

• 999/ Emergency Telecommunications experience or similar (minimum of 1 year)
• Deescalation skills/experience
• Strong focus on safety and attention to detail
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment
• Strong customer service, de‑escalation, communication and interpersonal skills with 2 years experience
• Adaptability to new technologies and processes
• Ability to self‑correct and learn from previous mistakes
• Maintain safety compliance certifications
• Ability to stay focused and seated for multiple hours at a time
• Ability to multitask in dynamic situations
• Schedule flexibility to support a 24*7 operation including holidays
