Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is seeking an experienced calibration and inspection lead to own the operation, drive ISO 17020/17025 compliance, and supervise audits in the UK. You will develop methods, train staff, and enhance testing capabilities.

The role requires a technical qualification with certifications in IOSH Managing Safely and Laboratory Internal Auditing where possible, plus advanced Excel modelling and PAT testing experience. UK-based eligibility to work is assumed.

Qualifications

• Five+ years experience in an inspection or testing environment.
• ISO 17020 and ISO 9001 knowledge; UKAS lab management experience is a plus.
• Relevant technical qualification; IOSH Managing Safely and Laboratory Internal Auditor certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, calibrate, and validate test equipment ensuring ISO compliance.
• Lead UKAS and external audits with the Quality Manager.
• Authorise signatory competence, write/validate calibration methods, build Excel tools.
• Identify gaps, build new internal testing capabilities, deliver quarterly reports.
• Manage lab safety, equipment traceability, non-conformances, and environmental monitoring.

We are seeking an experienced candidate to take ownership of our calibration and inspection operations.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure Technical Excellence: Maintain, calibrate, and validate test equipment while ensuring all work meets ISO 17020 and ISO 17025 standards.
• Lead Accreditation & Audits: Serve as the technical lead for UKAS and external audits, working closely with the Quality Manager.
• Develop & Train: Authorise signatory competence for staff, write and validate new calibration methods, and build operational calculation tools (Excel).
• Drive Capability: Identify gaps, build new internal testing capabilities, and deliver quarterly growth reports.
• Maintain Quality & Safety: Manage lab safety risk assessments, equipment traceability, non-conformance investigations, and environmental monitoring.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 5+ years working within a recognised inspection or testing environment.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of ISO 17020 and ISO 9001 standards; UKAS laboratory management experience is a plus.
• Qualifications: Relevant technical qualification; IOSH Managing Safely and Laboratory Internal Auditor certifications preferred.
• Practical Skills: Advanced Excel skills for building math/calculation models, PAT testing experience, and internal auditing skills.
• Mindset: Exceptional attention to detail, uncompromising integrity, and a continuous improvement mindset.
