Job summary

MERITUS invites Mechanical Engineers to join a Defence Manufacturing organisation in Bolton on a 12-month contract. You’ll be part of the Calibration & Maintenance team, delivering precise dimensional calibration to support assembly, integration and testing.

You will calibrate equipment, operate CMMs, and apply GD&T to ensure measurement accuracy and equipment performance through the build process. This role requires SC eligibility and an HNC/HND/BEng/BSc.

Qualifications

• Requires Level 4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing (HNC, Diploma or equivalent).
• Demonstrable experience in dimensional calibration.
• Good understanding of measurement uncertainty.
• Strong GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with CMMs and basic programming/modification.
• Experience calibrating torque tools to ISO 6789-2:2017.
• Experience with pressure calibration.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on mechanical and dimensional calibration support for COTS and bespoke test equipment.
• Support dimensional inspection activities, including updating and maintaining CMM measurement programmes.
• Deliver day-to-day dimensional calibration and inspection support for manufacturing teams, fixtures and tooling.
• Act as a trusted technical point of contact for dimensional calibration and inspection queries across manufacturing.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance measurement methods, processes and repeatability.
• Support pressure calibration activities where required.
