Job description

We are looking for a warm, reliable and experienced Café & Catering Team Member to join our friendly team at Carlisle Cathedral.

This permanent role has a strong focus on catering, supporting the preparation and delivery of food for the café and for a wide range of Cathedral events, including meetings, private functions, concerts and services. Working closely with the Chef and baker, you will play a key role in food preparation, event catering set-up and service, while helping to deliver a high-quality, welcoming hospitality experience that reflects the Cathedral’s values and standards.

While your primary emphasis will be catering, you will also be a flexible team player, able to cover other café stations when required, such as food prep, front-of-house service, counter work and event support. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with previous catering or hospitality experience, who are confident working in a busy, customer-facing environment and can remain calm under pressure. This role includes some evening and weekend work to support events. You’ll be expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation, working efficiently, hygienically, accurately and with integrity at all times. Day-to-day direction and support will be provided by the Café & Catering Manager, Café Supervisor and Chef.
