We’re looking for a café assistant to join us on a bank contract basis to help with our café. The role involves assisting in the café servery, garden café, and kitchen to ensure customers receive high-quality food and service.

This role is based at Taurus Crafts in Lydney.

Duties & Responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

• Commitment to excellent customer service, presentation, and standards.
• Greet customers, answer queries, and record orders accurately.
• Support colleagues, especially those on work experience or training placements.
• Prepare customer orders, following food hygiene and safety standards, and ensuring proper presentation.
• Serve food, beverages, and cutlery, confirming customer satisfaction.
• Handle payments correctly.
• Maintain a clean and attractive premises as per managerial guidelines.
• Perform other duties to support café operations.
• Assist in the kitchen with washing pots and maintaining cleanliness.
• Follow food hygiene and safety protocols during cleaning.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Good GCSEs in Maths and English.

Knowledge & Experience

• Experience in a café is preferred but not essential.
• Barista training is desirable but all training will be provided.
• Experience in catering with minimal supervision is advantageous.
• Ability to deal with the public and visitors, providing excellent customer service.
• Good numeracy, literacy, basic computer, and administrative skills.
• Enjoy working in a busy environment.
