Job summary

Scotsdales Garden Centre is hiring Cafe Assistants to deliver a welcoming café experience, crafting coffee, serving guests, handling orders, and maintaining a clean, inviting space across the coffee bar, dining area, and host station.

Permanent role with shifts 11-3 on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs, Sat, Sun; age 21+ eligible; pay £12.75 per hour. Training provided for food safety and coffee brewing to ensure consistent service and presentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality or customer service is helpful but not essential.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages.
• Greet customers warmly and assist with menu inquiries.
• Process payments accurately.
• Deliver food and beverages to tables and ensure orders are correct.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables to maintain a tidy space.
• Maintain cleanliness across service areas, including coffee bar and dining area.
• Restock supplies, set up/breakdown stations, and manage waste/recycling.
• Support team during busy periods to ensure seamless service.
• Manage seating and waitlists and address customer inquiries professionally.

Our Cafe Assistants play a versatile and vital role in delivering a high-quality customer experience across all areas of the café. From crafting expertly made coffee, greeting guests, managing orders, to maintaining cleanliness and supporting service, this position combines the responsibilities of a barista, server, runner, host, and cashier. The ideal candidate brings energy, teamwork, and attention to detail to every shift, helping create a welcoming and efficient café environment.

• Greet and engage with customers warmly, and assisting with menu inquiries.
• Process payments accurately.
• Deliver food and beverages to tables promptly, ensuring orders are correct and presentation is consistent.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently to maintain a tidy and inviting space.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation across service areas, including coffee bar, dining area, and host station.
• Assist with restocking supplies, setting up/breaking down stations, and managing waste/recycling.
• Support team members during busy periods to ensure seamless service.
• Manage seating arrangements and waitlists, and address customer inquiries or concerns professionally.

Requirements of the Role:

• Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or customer service is helpful but not essential.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and coffee brewing techniques (training provided).
• Physically able to stand for extended periods, lift/carry trays or supplies, and move around the café.
• Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to a variety of tasks and service situations.

Rate shown is for those aged 21 and over, competitive rates for ages 16 – 20.
