Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and assemble aerospace components and assemblies per drawings and work instructions.
  • Operate advanced manufacturing equipment and automated production machinery.
  • Set up, adjust, and monitor equipment to meet quality and productivity targets.
  • Utilise digital manufacturing systems and electronic work instructions.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic troubleshooting.
  • Record production and traceability data using electronic systems.
  • Support introduction of new manufacturing technologies and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct inspections using precision measuring tools.
  • Identify and report non-conformances and support corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 and aerospace regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant working environment.

We are seeking a technical operator to join our high-performing manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing and assembling high-performance products used in critical aerospace and defence applications. Working in a modern manufacturing environment, you will operate sophisticated equipment, assemble precision components, and utilise digital manufacturing technologies to deliver products that meet the highest industry standards.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Technical Operator, you will:

  • Manufacture and assemble aerospace components and assemblies in line with engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Operate advanced manufacturing equipment, automated production machinery, and specialised assembly tools.
  • Set up, adjust, and monitor equipment to achieve quality, productivity, and operational targets.
  • Utilise digital manufacturing systems, electronic work instructions, and production software to complete manufacturing activities accurately.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic troubleshooting activities.
  • Record production and traceability data using electronic manufacturing systems.
  • Support the introduction of new manufacturing technologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct inspections using precision measuring equipment and inspection tools.
  • Identify and report non-conformances while supporting corrective action activities.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 quality standards, customer requirements, and all applicable aerospace and defence regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and compliant working environment.

Essential Requirements
  • Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, electronics, or other high-technology production environment.
  • Strong technical aptitude and hands‑on engineering capability.
  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment, machinery, or production systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and assembly instructions.
  • Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Good computer literacy and confidence working with digital manufacturing systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and follow structured manufacturing processes.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience within Aerospace, Defence, Electronics, Medical Device, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical, or Manufacturing apprenticeship.
  • HNC, HND, SVQ, NVQ, or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Experience operating automated equipment, robotics, vision systems, or CNC‑controlled machinery.
  • IPC certification or relevant assembly qualifications.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.
Technical Skills
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate and understand advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Understanding of automated production processes and modern manufacturing technologies.
