Job summary

Employment Solutions is seeking a CAD Technician in Greater Manchester to join a growing engineering and structural steel business. You will produce engineering drawings and CAD models for bridge and structural steel projects, working with Engineers, Project Managers and Production.

Based in Manchester, this permanent role offers a 37.5-hour week and a salary of £43,000 per annum, with clear scope for career development within a expanding design/engineering team.

Qualifications

• Experience as CAD Technician within structural steel or bridges.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
• Proven experience producing drawings for manufacture and construction.

Employment Solutions is recruiting an experienced CAD Technician for a growing UK engineering and structural steel business based in Manchester.

This is a new position within the Design/Engineering team, working alongside an existing CAD Technician and closely with Engineers, Project Managers and Production.

The Role

You will produce accurate engineering drawings, models and technical documentation supporting the manufacture and delivery of bridge and structural steel projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Produce and amend engineering drawings and CAD models
• Prepare fabrication details, schedules and technical information
• Work closely with Engineering, Projects and Production
• Maintain drawing revisions and document control
• Resolve drawing discrepancies and technical queries
• Support design reviews and value engineering
• Ensure drawings meet project, client and company requirements
• Contribute to improving CAD standards and engineering processes

About You

• Previous CAD Technician experience within structural steel, bridge engineering, fabrication or a related engineering environment
• Strong AutoCAD capability
• Experience producing drawings for manufacture and construction
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical information
• Good understanding of fabrication processes
• Excellent technical accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong communication and organisational skills

Desirable

• HNC/HND in Engineering, CAD or a related discipline
• Experience using Tekla Structures or other 3D CAD/modelling software
• Relevant CAD qualifications or professional certification
