Job summary

Civil Engineering Recruitment is seeking a CAD Technician to produce detailed drawings and models supporting design engineers and site operations across civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The role offers strong technical involvement and a clear route toward EngTech and further progression.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience in timber, steel and reinforced concrete detailing.
• Experience producing CAD drawings and models within civil/infra environments.
• EngTech status with ICE or actively working towards EngTech.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate drawings and models from information supplied by design engineers and operational teams.
• Prepare As-Built drawings using site records and marked-up drawings.
• Utilise CAD software including AutoCAD LT, AutoTrack and SketchUp to deliver outputs.
• Ensure all drawings comply with CAD standards and quality requirements.
• Support design engineers and project teams by providing drafting expertise.
• Carry out informal drawing reviews to promote quality and best practice.
• Assist with identification and closure of design-related non-conformances.
• Attend site visits and project meetings to understand project requirements.

An excellent opportunity for a CAD Technician to produce detailed drawings and models supporting design engineers and site operations teams across a variety of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The role sits within a well-established UK infrastructure contractor known for its strong engineering culture, commitment to professional development and consistent delivery of complex projects across major construction sectors. This position offers genuine technical involvement, exposure to major infrastructure projects and a clear route toward EngTech and further career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate, detailed technical drawings and models from information supplied by design engineers and operational teams
• Prepare As-Built drawings using site records and marked-up drawings
• Utilise CAD software including AutoCAD LT, AutoTrack and SketchUp to deliver high-quality outputs
• Ensure all drawings comply with company CAD standards and quality requirements
• Support design engineers and project teams by providing technical drafting expertise
• Carry out informal drawing reviews to promote quality, consistency and best practice
• Assist with the identification and closure of design-related non-conformances
• Attend site visits and project meetings to build a thorough understanding of project requirements

Key Requirements

• 5 years’ experience of timber structure detailing, steel detailing and reinforced concrete detailing.
• Experience producing CAD drawings and models within a civil engineering, construction or infrastructure environment
• EngTech, or actively working towards EngTech status with the ICE
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD LT, with 3D modelling experience (AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar) advantageous
• Demonstrable experience of timber structure, steelwork and reinforced concrete detailing
• Excellent attention to detail with a proactive, team-focused approach and strong communication skills
