Aureos is looking for a CAD Technician for substations.

Duties and responsibilities

• Actively promote safety by design and contribute to hazard review meetings.
• Carry out site surveys and coordinate work with site teams as required.
• Review and propose concept and base designs based on tender information.
• Design and review auxiliary supply, protection, and control documentation, schematic diagrams, battery and cable sizing, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, core sheets, etc.
• Design protection and control equipment settings.
• Sizing of current and voltage transformers.
• Create design and equipment technical specifications.
• Ensure performance aligns with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for on-time delivery, requirements management, and right-first-time quality.
• Deliver design work that meets quality standards and KPI targets.
• Complete design tasks on time according to project timelines.
• Align design work with project information and employer requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications.

Skills, experience, and qualifications

• HNC/HND or equivalent is minimum; BSc., BEng. or equivalent is desirable.
• IEng or CEng chartership status is desirable.
• Experience with CAD tools and working in a BIM environment.
• Experience in medium voltage and high voltage substation systems design.
• Knowledge and experience of IEC61850 and its applications.
• 5+ years’ experience in substations design; 8+ years for Senior; 12+ years for Principal titles.
• Knowledge of HSE statutes.
• Knowledge of general electrical works standards and regulations.
• Knowledge of protection, control, SCADA, transformers, switchgear, batteries, cabling, earthing, and lighting standards and regulations.
