Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a skilled CAD Designer for an office-based role in Reading. You will work with AutoCAD and BricsCAD, supporting projects in construction or mechanical/building services engineering, with daily attendance at the Reading office.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years' experience, a CSCS card, and familiarity with Procore and Asite. You will maintain design files and contribute to innovative projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Construction Industry Subcontractor or Mechanical/Building Services Engineering.
• CSCS card or willingness to obtain one.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; BricsCAD desirable.
• Familiar with Procore and Asite is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designing and drafting detailed drawings using AutoCAD (BricsCAD preferred).
• Liaising with clients and project teams to meet specifications.
• Conducting site visits as required (CSCS card required).
• Uploading/downloading drawings via Procore and Asite.
• Maintaining and organising design files for easy access.
• Staying updated on industry standards and design software advances.

CAD Designer

Overview

Penguin Recruitment, on behalf of the company, is seeking a skilled and experienced CAD Designer to join the team. This exciting role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in AutoCAD (and preferably BricsCAD), along with a solid understanding of the construction or mechanical/building services engineering industry. The role is predominantly office-based and requires daily attendance at the company’s Reading office.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about design, who have a keen eye for detail and are looking to contribute to innovative projects.

Responsibilities

• Creating and developing detailed designs using AutoCAD and, ideally, BricsCAD.
• Collaborating with project teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications and client requirements.
• Conducting site visits as required (CSCS card required).
• Uploading and downloading drawings using platforms such as Procore and Asite.
• Working closely with other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant products and technical standards.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Construction Industry Subcontractor or Mechanical/Building Services Engineering role (or similar).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with BricsCAD is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with noise control products, sheet metal fabrication, and architectural louvres is advantageous.
• Experience with platforms such as Procore and Asite is a plus.
• A CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one).
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Day-to-Day

• Designing and drafting technical drawings for various projects.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.
• Attending site visits to gather information and ensure designs align with on-site conditions.
• Managing and organising design files to ensure they are accessible and up-to-date.
• Staying informed about industry trends and advancements in design software and techniques.
