Job summary

Venatu Consulting Ltd is seeking an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer to support precision-machined components in a UK engineering environment. You will manage projects from order to manufacture and provide technical support across Engineering, Production and Quality, with a focus on Siemens NX CAD/CAM and Sinumerik CNC controls.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Siemens NX CAD/CAM.
• Strong knowledge of Siemens Sinumerik CNC controls.
• Proven CNC programming experience across milling and turning.
• Experience with 3, 4 and 5-axis machining.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Strong knowledge of tooling, cutting data and machining strategies.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering projects from purchase order through to completion.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Develop manufacturing strategies for complex components.
• Create and modify 3D models using Siemens NX.
• Produce CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM.
• Program and support 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machining.
• Optimize cutting strategies, tooling, feeds, speeds and machining cycles.
• Simulate machining operations and support programme prove-outs.
• Program and edit Siemens Sinumerik/ShopMill/ShopTurn controls at the machine.
• Produce setup sheets and manufacturing documentation.
• Support fixture, tooling and work-holding requirements.
• Troubleshoot programming and manufacturing issues.
• Work closely with Production and Quality to resolve technical issues and non-conformances.
• Identify opportunities to reduce machining and prove-out times.
• Maintain accurate engineering records and comply with relevant quality and safety procedures.

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-4:00pm | Friday, 8:00am-1:00pm

About the Role

An established UK engineering business is seeking an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer to support the delivery of complex and precision-machined components.

Essential Requirements of a CAD CAM Engineer

• Proven CNC programming experience across milling and turning.
• Experience with 3, 4 and 5-axis machining.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.

• Good understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engineering projects effectively.

Desirable Experience of a CAD CAM Engineer

• Heavy engineering or precision machining background.
• Experience with large or complex components/rotating equipment.
• Knowledge of Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls.
• Fixture and tooling design.
• Reverse engineering.
• CMM inspection processes.
• ERP/MRP systems.
