Job summary

Schlemmer is seeking a technically minded Assembly Designer to develop accurate, production-ready drawings for structural display solutions. You will turn concepts into detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings and work closely with production and other technical teams.

The role requires strong CAD skills (SolidWorks), attention to detail and ability to communicate how components fit and assemble, with a focus on manufacturability.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design or a related field.
• 1–2 years’ experience in a drawing office, architectural practice, structural design studio or similar environment.
• Strong technical drawing and 3D modelling skills.
• Good working knowledge of SolidWorks / 3D CAD.
• Strong attention to detail and a technically minded approach to problem-solving.
• Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently while following direction.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
• Adobe Illustrator or similar experience would be advantageous.
• Previous exposure to manufacturing, fabrication or product design would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed assembly, structural and production-ready drawings.
• Translate design concepts, sketches and briefs into accurate technical drawings.
• Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings with clear dimensions, specifications and assembly details.
• Assist with structural and component designs to ensure products are functional and suitable for manufacturing.
• Ensure drawings clearly communicate how components fit, connect and assemble.
• Liaise with Structural Design, Production, Estimating, Traffic and other relevant teams.
• Review designs for accuracy, functionality and manufacturability.
• Identify potential design or production issues and propose practical solutions.
• Ensure drawings meet company standards, specifications and quality requirements.
• Complete work accurately and within agreed project timelines.
